چکیده

The energy and time variables of the elementary classical dynami-cal systems are described geometrically, as canonically conjugate coordinates of an extended phase-space. It is shown that the Galilei action of the inertial equivalence group on this space is canonical, but not Hamiltonian equivari-ant. Although it has no effect at classical level, the lack of equivariance makes the Galilei action inconsistent with the canonical quantization. A Hamiltonian equivariant action can be obtained by assuming that the iner-tial parameter in the extended phase-space is quasi-isotropic. This condition leads naturally to the Lorentz transformations between moving frames as a particular case of symplectic transformations. The limit speed appears as a constant factor relating the two additional canonical coordinates to the energy and time. Its value is identified with the speed of light by using the relationship between the electromagnetic potentials and the symplectic form of the extended phase-space.

While the notion of chaos is well established for dynamical systems on manifolds, it is not so for dynamical systems over discrete spaces with N variables, as binary neural networks and cellular automata. The main difficulty is the choice of a suitable topology to study the limit N → ∞. By embedding the discrete phase space into a Cantor set we provided a natural setting to define topological e...

This survey is based on a series of talks I gave at the conference " Dynamical systems and diophantine approximation " at l'Instut Henri Poincaré in June 2003. I will present asymptotic results (transitivity, ergodicity, weak-mixing) for billiards based on the approximation technique developed by Katok and Zemlyakov. I will also present approximation techniques which allow to prove the abundanc...

It is widely believed that one signal can carry maximum one bit of information, and minimum KTlog2 energy is required to transmit or to erase a bit. Here it is shown four bits of information can be transmitted by one signal in four dimensional space-time. It implies space-time cannot be ignored to determine the minimal energy cost of information

We present a detailed analysis of assumptions that J. Bell used to show that local realism contradicts QM. We find that Bell’s viewpoint on realism is nonphysical, because it implicitly assume that observed physical variables coincides with ontic variables (i.e., these variables before measurement). The real physical process of measurement is a process of dynamical interaction between a system ...

We analyse the azimuthal correlation function for high p T charged hadrons in Au+Au collisions at the RHIC energy. By using a dynamical model in which hydrodynamics is combined with explicit propagation of high p T partons, we study the effect of the intrinsic transverse momentum of initial partons on the azimuthal back-to-back correlations.
